Sychevoi called Karpin a very pleasant person
Wings of the Soviets forward Vladimir Sychevoi told Metaratings.ru that it was important for him to make his debut in the Russian national team and feel what it was like to be with the best players in the country and work with Valery Karpin.
– Did you dream of such a debut for the national team as a friendly match with Tajikistan? Or did not dream about the national team at all?
“I didn’t even think that I would have the opportunity to be in the national team. For me it was not important that the match was friendly. It was important for me that they called me, that I felt what it was like to be with the best players in Russia, to work with the national team coach. This is more than I could wish for.
– How do you remember Karpin, what did he say? Did you come across something new?
– If we talk about the game, it was a very complex scheme – of course, one gathering to delve into it is not enough. In terms of human qualities, this is a very pleasant person. He treats everyone positively, constantly looking for contact with people, knows how to find an approach. I remember and liked his expression at a press conference that if he had been told three years ago that he would call up a guy without school, who worked as a bartender, to the national team, he would not have believed it.
Sychevoi made his debut for the Russian national team on November 17, 2022 in a meeting against Tajikistan, spending the entire second half on the field and not scoring.
Sychevoi scored 14 goals in the current Russian championship and shares the first place in the scorer race with Quincy Promes from Spartak.
The 2022/23 season in Russia will resume with the matches of the FONBET Cup of Russia in February, the meetings of the 18th round of the WORLD RPL will be held in early March. Broadcasts of games can be watched on the Match TV federal channel, as well as on the holding’s thematic channels and on the matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru websites.
