The former midfielder of CSKA and the Russian national team Pavel Mamaev benefited all the teams he played for, Alexander Tukmanov, ex-president of the Torpedo Moscow football club, told RB Sport.
34-year-old Mamaev on February 11 announced the end of his sports career. He has been a free agent since leaving Khimki in July 2022.
– Mamaev’s career has developed successfully. It is a pity that he was not fully realized due to all the known events with Kokorin. Pavel is a good football player, he enjoyed the game. Mamaev benefited all the teams for which he played. If he announced his retirement, then there were reasons for that. Maybe he was already physically tired and couldn’t play,” said Tukmanov.
Mamaev also played for Torpedo, Krasnodar and Rostov. As part of the Russian national team, he took part in the 2016 European Championship.
On October 8, 2018, Mamaev and forward of the Cypriot “Aris” Alexander Kokorin became participants in two fights in the center of Moscow, during which several people were injured. The Presnensky Court of Moscow sent the players to a colony – Mamaev received a term of one year and five months in prison, and Kokorin – one year and six months.
The Russian football season will resume on February 22 with FONBET Russian Cup matches. On March 3, the WORLD RPL draw will continue.
