Wings of the Soviets forward Vladimir Sychevoi told Metaratings.ru that he was thinking about ending his career after an injury.
Sychevoi moved from Orenburg to the Samara team in the winter transfer window. In the second part of the season, the 26-year-old plans to play under the name Pisarsky.
– When you worked as a bartender, did you have any thoughts that you could slowly stop playing football?
“Then I got hurt. I was operated on, I thought that I would not play at all anymore – I went to work at an auto parts warehouse. Everything was enough for me then, I didn’t even think of becoming a football player. In “Krymteplitsa” they gave 5 thousand per game, plus there was a salary in the warehouse of 30 thousand.
And then the president of the club said to come and train every day like a pro. Only when I quit my job and began to constantly play and score, did I think that it was possible to play football as well. But before working at the auto parts warehouse, I didn’t even think about football, I didn’t think that I would play in Russia – maximum in Crimea.
Sychevoi scored 14 goals in the current Russian championship and shares the first place in the scorers race with Quincy Promes from Spartak.
