Barcelona have released an official statement in relation to the appearance in mass media information that the club transferred €1.4 million between 2016 and 2018 to DASNIL 95, which is owned by the former referee and former deputy chairman of the Royal Football Federation’s technical committee of referees Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira.
Negreira held this position from 1994 to 2018. The former judge himself said he received money for consultancy work, but noted that no documents were provided in this regard.
“Blue Garnet” on the official website in response to the reported incident:
1. In the past, Barcelona used the services of an external consultant who provided the club’s technical secretariats with video reports on young players from other Spanish clubs.
2. In addition, the relationship with this supplier has extended to technical reports relating to professional refereeing to complement the information required by the technical staff of the first and second teams. This is a common practice among professional soccer teams.
3. These types of outsourced services are now the responsibility of a professional working for the Football Department.
4. Barcelona regret that this information was made public just as the team reached its best form of the season.
5. Barcelona will take legal action against those who seek to tarnish the club’s image with possible insinuations against its good reputation which could result from the disclosure of such information.
