Golovin scored again! The best season of the Russian midfielder in the French championship
Alexander’s ball helped Monaco climb to second place.
Alexander Golovin spends not the first year in the French championship. Once upon a time, moving to Ligue 1 was perceived by the player’s fans as the first step to the top. Time passed, but the Russians still could not make any noticeable progress in the game. It might seem to some that the midfielder has already reached his ceiling.
However, this season the Russian proves to all skeptics that it is premature to write him off. In the last 23rd round, he scored a goal against PSG, and in the next match he scored against Brest.
This is definitely Alexander’s best season in the French championship!
Collective masterpiece
Russian midfielder Alexander Golovin, together with Monaco, continues to fight for the highest places in the French championship. Having beaten the PSG leader of the season, the Monegasques went to Brest, where they also hoped to get an important victory. Another success allowed the team of Philippe Clement to temporarily push Marseille from the second line in the standings and briefly become the main pursuer of the Parisians.
Brest was not among the favorites of the season, fighting for better positions at the bottom of the standings. However, for almost 40 minutes Philippe Clement’s team could not find the key to the opponent’s goal. Moreover, the owners themselves did not hesitate to attack, threatening the possessions of Alexander Nyubel. Yet the first capitulated goalkeeper of the local team.
Krislen Matsima made a pass from the right flank into Brest’s penalty area. Eliss Ben-Segir tried to improve his position, but almost made a loss in the fight against his opponent. Fortunately for him, Wissam Ben Yedder turned out to be nearby, who managed from a difficult position to lay the ball right under Golovin’s blow. Alexander had only not to lose his head and put an end to this collective masterpiece. The Russian player did an excellent job with this task.
Golovin rather modestly rejoiced at the goal and immediately went to thank for the transfer of partners. For Alexander, this has already become the sixth goal in the French championship, earlier in one season he could not score more than five. “Monaco” managed to keep the victory, defeating the opponent with a score of 2:1. Success allowed Clement’s team to take second place in the standings, although the competitor from Marseille still has a game in hand.
