Football player for Lokomotiv Moscow and the Russian national team Dmitry Barinov he rejected the club’s offer of a new four-year contract. This was stated by the railway workers’ sporting director Dmitry Ulyanovcommented the club’s press service.
The current deal with the player will last until the summer of 2026.
“As for Dmitry Barinov, I can report that, having become the new general director, Boris Borisovich Rotenberg immediately resumed negotiations with the footballer’s representatives and with the player himself before the start of the unprotected period of the contract. The result was the offer of our student a new four-year contract, corresponding to his playing, leadership and captaincy qualities. The footballer’s team rejected this proposal. In December the football club CSKA an offer was made to buy out the rights of a player from the main Lokomotiv team, which the club did not accept for sporting and financial reasons,” Ulyanov said.
“Knowing Dmitry well, I am confident that he will continue to conscientiously fulfill his professional obligations and give his all to the team until the end of his current contract with Lokomotiv, as he has done while playing for us all these years – disciplined, with his innate professionalism, respect for the club that raised him,” added the Lokomotiv sporting director.
Barinov is 29 years old. He graduated from Lokomotiv, for whose main team he played 274 matches in various tournaments, scoring 13 goals and 27 assists. As part of the club, the footballer won the Russian Cup three times (2017, 2019, 2021) and the championship once (2018) and the national Super Cup (2019).
Barinov took part in 23 matches for the Russian national team, recording 2 assists. Together with the national team, he participated in the final part of the European Championship, which took place in the summer of 2021. In this tournament, the Russian team won one match out of three and could not leave the group.
