“This is a great honor for me”. Claudinho expressed gratitude after receiving Russian citizenship
Zenit midfielder Claudinho spoke about his feelings after receiving a Russian passport.
On Friday, Brazilian Zenit players Claudinho and Malcolm received Russian citizenship by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
— I would like to thank the club and everyone involved in granting me Russian citizenship! When the opportunity arose, I knew it would be good for me and for the club. It is also a great honor for me. I am very happy! Claudinho told Match TV.
Claudinho, 26, has made 19 appearances for the Blue-White-Blues in all competitions this season, scoring three goals and providing eight assists.
Earlier, the Russian Football Union (RFU) said that there is a theoretical possibility that Claudinho and Malcolm will be able to play for the Russian national team in the future.
