This season RPL “Sochi” wants to be in the top five, said Melkadze

Sochi forward Georgy Melkadze told RB Sport that he wants to finish the WORLD RPL season with a team in the top five.

Sochi scored 25 points in 17 matches and is in ninth place in the standings of the Russian championship.

– Sochi is now in the middle of the RPL table. Berdyev likes to say that his teams go from game to game. Do you have a goal in mind?

– I want to be in the top five. If we succeed, no one will be upset. If, with such spending, we take a conditional fourth place, this will be a great achievement, because salaries in Sochi and in other clubs are incomparable. In fact, of the middle peasants, only Rostov is higher than us.

– Did you analyze why you were not lucky in the first part of the season?

“First, injuries. Margasov, Zaika, Angban, Tsallagov – these are four people who played the whole last season, four key players. Plus, there was no physical activity – this also made itself felt. Maybe not in the first or second match, but in the fifth or sixth round, everyone’s condition was already different.

– Usually teams are recruited during the season, but it turned out that it was easy at first, and then it got harder and harder.

– Yes, and injuries went against this background.

Melkadze is a graduate of the Moscow “Spartak”. The forward played in Tosno, Tambov and Akhmat. In 2022, he moved to Sochi.

The 25-year-old has made 18 appearances this season, scoring 5 goals and 2 assists.
