The defender of “Torpedo” Zhuravlev admitted that at first he was shocked by boxing in Talalaev’s training

Torpedo defender Yuri Zhuravlev told RB Sport that at first he was surprised by Andrey Talalaev’s training methods during the training camp.

At the first winter training camp in Tambov, the Torpedo players had several unusual classes in other sports – boxing, hockey and tai-bo.

– In the summer, when I moved to Andrey Viktorovich Talalaev’s Akhmat, this already happened, – said Zhuravlev. — In addition to hockey, which has appeared now. I myself am from the south, I don’t know how to skate well, so I was near the side.

– How did you react when you first learned about such training?

– In general, it’s okay. I was a little shocked, but this is the coach’s attitude, you can’t argue with it. In the summer I was surprised by tai-bo and boxing, now – hockey. Still, you don’t expect that there are such trainings for football players.

– Did they explain to you what all this is for?

– Preparing for the fight for the title of world champion. (Laughs). Just endurance training, doing non-football moves that can help you in football.

Zhuravlev, 26, has made 18 appearances this season, scoring goals and assists.

On Sunday, Torpedo in the away match of the ¼ finals of the FONBET Way of Regions of the Russian Cup lost to Togliatti Akron with a score of 0:2 and flew out of the tournament.
