Robert Lewandowski, one of the winners of The Best award.
Since its appearance in 2016, the award The best it’s the way it is FIFA to award the best of a season. It emerged after the failed relationship between world soccer’s parent house and French magazine France Football, which has awarded the Ballon d’Or since 1956 and which had partnered with the entity to do so jointly from 2010 to 2016.
Exactly one of the differences between The Best and the Ballon d’Or is one of those mentioned: while FIFA evaluates a season (according to the European calendars from August to July), the French version takes into account a calendar year.
Beyond regulatory issues, in The Sports News We review all the winners.
