It would be nice if Lokomotiv striker Artem Dziuba was called to the Russian national team in the case, ex-defender of CSKA and the Russian national team Dmitry Galyamin told RB Sport.
On Sunday, the communications service of the Russian Football Union (RFU) told Match TV that the RFU and the Iranian Football Federation had agreed on the date of the friendly match of national teams – March 23 in Tehran. At the moment, the parties are completing the preparation and coordination of all necessary documents and details of the meeting.
Karpin is doing the right thing. Now it is logical and understandable. When we played for the result, I was against the rotation, which was carried out by both Karpin and Cherchesov. Then the points scored were important and there was no point in views. Now there are many young players in the RPL. It is normal that the coach wants to get to know them better. Under normal conditions, it is not normal that a football player has played in the RPL for six months, and he is called up to the national team. But since that’s the way it is, why not.
– Dzyuba said that he wants to return to the national team. But he is 34 years old. Are exceptions possible?
– It’s hard for me to say. Dziuba has a separate relationship not only with Karpin, but also with Russian football. It would be nice if he was called to the team on the case. Honestly. Not to break the record, but because he deserved it.
At the end of February 2022, FIFA and UEFA suspended Russian teams and clubs from participating in international tournaments due to the situation in Ukraine. The RFU considered the possibility of moving to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), but it was decided to create a working group with the participation of representatives of UEFA and FIFA, which will discuss in more detail the prospects for Russian football. On February 1, 2023, the AFC Congress was held in Manama (Bahrain), where the head of the RFU, Alexander Dyukov, was present.
