Abascal told why Promes took the penalty twice in the match against Lokomotiv

Spartak head coach Guillermo Abascal answered the question why Quincy Promes took the second penalty in the match against Lokomotiv, despite the fact that the first attempt was unsuccessful.

The meeting at the stadium in Tushino ended with a score of 4:2 in favor of the “red-whites”. At the end of the meeting, Promes earned a 11-meter kick, Igor Smolnikov fouled against him. Ilya Lantratov parried the blow of the Dutchman. A few minutes later, a penalty was awarded for Herman Conti’s handball in his own penalty area. Lantratov again parried Promes’ blow, but the referee decided that the 11-meter kick should be repeated, on the third attempt the forward sent the ball into the goal.

– There are players who have to take penalties. I would give Jikia a third shot, give him the opportunity to experience a moment of happiness, he deserved it with his game. But Quincy is our full-time penalty taker. Maybe the lack of practice had an effect… It’s good that he scored that goal after all. There is Sobolev, Khlusevich, they all have the ability to hit 11 meters. Quincy has always been number one in this matter. Happy for him.

We have played with Lokomotiv for the fourth time this season. This is a strong team with a strong history. This team knows how to win. In addition, they acquired important players, made a good reinforcement. I don’t even want to single out anyone, the guys showed themselves on the football field. The maturity that we acquire is the most important thing. We are happy to reach the semi-finals of the tournament and we understand that it will not be easier further.

In the cup, the most important thing is to go further. I congratulate the guys and want to thank them. We have played four times with Lokomotiv this season and we have won everywhere. It’s incredibly difficult and says a lot. Even in Switzerland, where teams play each other many times, it rarely happens that there are four wins in four matches. This increases the complexity and gives an understanding that we are on the right track,” Abaskal quoted the Match TV website as saying from a press conference.

Spartak advanced to the next round of the upper bracket in terms of the number of meetings. Railway workers will continue to fight in the ¼ finals of the lower bracket of the tournament. The next opponents of both teams will be determined by the results of the draw.

INFANTINO: “If there was no FIFA, there would be no football in 150 countries of the world”

FIFA President Gianni Infantino He commented on World Cup ticket prices, saying they reflected “absolutely insane” demand for next summer’s tournament:

“We have six to seven million tickets and in 15 days we received 150 million ticket requests. So every day we have 10 million requests. This shows how strong the World Cup is.”

FIFA has sold just 44 million tickets in almost 100 years of the World Cup. So we were able to sell tickets for the 300th anniversary of the World Cup in two weeks. Just imagine. “This is absolutely crazy.”

Infantino also noted that funds from ticket sales would be reinvested into world football, but did not specify a specific amount:

“The important thing is that the revenue from this goes back into football around the world. If it weren’t for FIFA, there would be no football in 150 countries of the world. Football exists thanks to the revenues we get from the World Cup, and we reinvest that into football around the world.”

Previously, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called on FIFA to further reduce 2026 World Cup ticket prices.
