The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and the Technical Referees Committee (CTA) held a joint press conference on the case Jose Maria Enriquez Negreira.
He announced that there was no evidence of corruption in the judiciary. It was argued that it was impossible to prove that Negreira had any influence over the match officials. In this case, 240 referees were interviewed, one of whom refused to answer the questions. The organizations concluded there was no basis for formal complaints or further investigation. Despite this, Uefa AND Fifa want to conduct their own investigation after obtaining the necessary information from the RFEF and CTA.
It was reported that if the guilt is proven, Barcelona could be punished with a relegation or points deduction. In addition, the Catalans can be suspended from European competition for one season.
