A key role in the transition of striker Vladimir Sychevy was played by the desire of the football player, Sergey Kornilenko, sports director of Wings of the Soviets, told Metaratings.ru.

– From Krylia, you usually expect the acquisitions of Chertanovo students, reserve players from top clubs, new names from abroad, but not the top scorer of the RPL, which is in full view. Did you yourself believe that you would be able to win the competition for Sychevy against Zenit and other clubs?

“You always believe and at least put in your best effort to get the one you need. We knew that Vladimir had a good stretch with goals, a debut for the national team. We always work with an emphasis on Russian football players and adhere to this strategy. Also, Glushenkov did not leave us for free, the club managed to earn. We knew about the release clause in Vladimir’s contract and tried to take advantage of it.

– Vladimir decided to move to Wings, contrary to the opinion of his agent Viktor Panchenko and the proposal of Zenit, which Andrey Arshavin spoke about. How did you convince him or didn’t even need to convince him, did he initially want to join Wings?

— Andrey Sergeevich [Аршавин] knows better what Zenith’s offer was and how interested they were in Sychev. As a result, we are happy that he is with us, and has already managed to excel for the “Wings”. Vladimir is an extraordinary player who broke into the Premier League rather late. Our proposal interested him. We have traditions, an interesting game, interesting young Russian players. In our club, many players take a step forward, develop. Influenced by the interest of the head coach, negotiating – everything came together. It was the desire of the player that played the key role, for us as a club it was important.

– Can we say that a year after the departure of Sergeyev, you found the same striker-scorer?

– Yes, this is also a classic ninth number, although he and Vanya Sergeyev are diverse strikers. Vladimir differs in characteristics from Glushenkov, Sarveli. We have added the heading option. I really like the great efficiency and passion with which Vladimir acts in the opponent’s penalty area.

Sychevoi moved to Krylya Sovetov from Orenburg in January 2023. In the first part of the 2022/23 season, the 26-year-old striker played 19 matches, scoring 17 goals and making two assists.
