The Ministry of Sports of Russia rejected the request of Spartak to obtain Russian citizenship by Promes

The Ministry of Sports of Russia announced the refusal to provide a Russian passport to Spartak midfielder Quincy Promes.

In February 2021, the Dutch legionnaire of the Red-Whites expressed his readiness to become a Russian citizen, later the footballer sent a corresponding request.

— Football club “Spartak-Moscow” sent a letter to the Russian Ministry of Sports on assistance in obtaining citizenship of the Russian Federation to the citizen of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Quincy Anton Promes in the manner prescribed by the federal law “On Citizenship of the Russian Federation”.

In the course of elaborating this issue together with interested organizations, the Ministry of Sports of Russia decided to refuse FC Spartak-Moscow to send an application for granting citizenship of the Russian Federation to Quincy Anton Promes, the Match TV statement says.

Promes returned to Spartak in 2021 from Ajax. This season, he played 16 matches in the Russian championship, in which he scored 14 goals.
