Former captain of the Syrian national football team received a life ban
Former national team captain Ahmed Al Saleh has been banned for life by the Syrian Football Association after he attacked and spat at a referee during a major league match, BBC reported.
The Al-Jaish defender received a red card for fouling an Al-Watba player in a Syrian Pro League match on 3 February.
The disciplinary committee of the Syrian Football Association, after examining the referee’s report on the match, found that Al-Saleh “kicked, insulted and spat at the referee.” The disciplinary committee has not only suspended Al Saleh for life, but will also consider a ban on the player from carrying out any professional activity in football. The athlete has no right to appeal the decision.
In addition, Al-Saleh was fined 1.5 million Syrian pounds ($600).
