Sochi striker Vladislav Sarveli told RG about the first call-up to the Russian national team, and also spoke out against the possible transition of Russian football to the Asian Confederation.
– Did you manage to talk with Karpin? Maybe he gave some advice.
— Yes, we succeeded. We talked superficially, a little, a couple of words exchanged and that’s it.
Did he take part in the training process with you?
– In my opinion, no, there was no such thing that he himself showed. There were some light exercises.
– Karpin has repeatedly said that sugar is prohibited in the national team. Are you on a diet yourself?
– After the training camp, they sent us such a small nutrition program, where you can see how to eat properly. This is important for every player. As for the diet, then, of course, I can’t say 100 percent that I stick to it. I can eat something sometimes, but generally I don’t like pizza, burgers and all that.
– The question that is asked to all Russian players: are you for or against moving to Asia?
– Of course, I’m against it. But if they don’t return us… I just can’t imagine how the team will fly so much. For me it’s bad if we go to Asia. And in terms of football too. I don’t even want to think about it.
At the end of December, the RFU executive committee raised the issue of a possible transition of the organization to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). Later, together with UEFA, it was decided to create a working group, the purpose of which is to develop a roadmap for the speedy return of Russian teams to international tournaments.
