Sporting CP beat Arsenal on penalties to advance to Europa League quarter-finals
Sporting Lisbon beat London Arsenal in the second leg of the 1/8 finals of the Europa League.
Regular time ended with the score 1:1. Grant Xhaka scored against Arsenal, Gonçalves Pedro scored against the guests.
The first match in Portugal also ended in a 2-2 draw, the meeting went into extra time. At the 118th minute, the guests were left with ten, the second yellow card was received by Manuel Ugarte.
Extra time ended without goals scored, and in the penalty shoot-out, the Sporting players were more accurate (5-3). Based on the sum of two matches, the Lisbon team advanced to the next stage of the tournament.
