The head coach of the Gimnasia (La Plata) club, Sebastian Ariel Romero, received a red card in the Argentine championship match against Estudiantes for kicking an opposing team player.
The incident occurred during the game, which took place on Sunday and ended with a score of 2:1 in favor of Gimnasia. In the 29th minute, Estudiantes defender Leonardo Godoy, trying to keep the ball in the field in a fall, was behind the touchline. Romero, seeing that the ball left the field, wanted to quickly return it to the game, but missed and hit Godoy. The referee removed the coach from the bench.
One of the fans reacted to Romero’s actions like this: “He hit the player when he was on the lawn. This is an attack.”
Gimnasia is 25th in the Argentinean league table, Estudiantes is 24th.
