The Iraqi national team explained why they decided not to prepare for a friendly match against the Russian team in Sochi, as originally planned.
The meeting is scheduled to be held in St. Petersburg on March 26. Earlier, the Iraqi national team reported that the team would prepare for a friendly match in Baghdad and arrive in St. Petersburg on March 24.
“The reason for the cancellation is that the trip plan drawn up by the Russian side did not correspond to our preparatory program,” Sport24 quotes the press secretary of the Iraqi national team, Mohammed Imad.
Before the match with the Iraqi team, the Russian team will play a friendly game with the Iranians in Tehran (March 23).
