‘This is disrespectful to Griezmann’ – Pires on Mbappe’s appointment as France captain
Former French midfielder Robert Pires said he did not agree with the decision of the coaching staff of the national team to appoint Kylian Mbappe as captain of the national team.
The 24-year-old striker replaced Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris in this role, who retired from the national team after the end of the 2022 World Cup.
– A logical choice? Honestly, no. Given the years that have passed, I expected it to be Griezmann. I am surprised. This is disrespectful to Antoine. But I emphasize, I have nothing against Mbappe, — Pires quotes Atletico Universe with reference to L’Equipe.
The 2018 world champion Mbappe played 66 matches for the French national team, scoring 36 goals.
