The RFU believes that the Russian Cup final should not be postponed due to the participation of the Russian team in the Asian tournament

There is no need to postpone the matches of the Russian Cup due to the participation of the Russian team in the championship of the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA), said Maxim Mitrofanov, Secretary General of the RFU.

Faridun Saliev, press secretary of the Football Federation of Tajikistan, announced the participation of the Russian national team in the tournament earlier on Match TV. Later, the RFU clarified that it was only discussing the possibility and conditions for participation in the CAFA championship.

– Is there a deadline for deciding whether you will participate in the Asian tournament or not?

– This is not a tournament, but rather a series of friendly matches held at the same time and in the same place. There is a certain schedule, we discuss it with the head coach. There is a window for national team games, and we need to fill it with matches with those who do not have matches at this time. There are few such groups. If we manage to approve a convenient schedule of matches, if it is convenient for the national team, we are ready to take part in these matches.

– If Russia participates, will the matches of the Russian Cup be postponed?

– For what? Is there any need? Players from only two teams will be involved. I don’t think you need to move anything. The grid of the tournament is quite long, Mitrofanov told Match TV.

The CAFA Championship is scheduled to take place June 9-21. Teams from Tajikistan, Iran, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan will play in the tournament. CAFA also invited one of the Asian teams to participate in the new tournament. The 30th round of the WORLD RPL will take place on June 3, June 11, during the dates of the CAFA tournament, the final match of the FONBET Cup of Russia 2022/23 will be held in Luzhniki.

Watch live broadcasts of matches of the Russian Championship and FONBET Cup of Russia on the Match TV federal channel and the thematic channels of the holding, as well as on matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru websites.

Tottenham makes an offer to Liverpool for Robertson

Tottenham have made their first official offer for the Liverpool defender Andrea Robertson.

Last summer, Robertson almost moved to Atlético Madrid, but the deal was cancelled, and now Tottenham wants to lure the player to themselves, taking advantage of the fact that his contract expires at the end of the season.

Since the Scotland international joined Liverpool from Hull in 2017 for a fee of around £8 million, he has won every trophy with the club and has become a cult figure on Merseyside.
