The Russian coach did a miracle in the selection for the Euro. The Danes did not even have time to utter a word!

The strong-willed victory of Kazakhstan over Denmark is the direct merit of Magomed Adiev.
While the Russian national team is testing a thousand and one line-up options in friendly matches with Iran and Iraq, the qualification for the continental championship is underway in Europe. There are among the participants of the selection and our people. For example, the head coach of the Kazakhstan national team Magomed Adiev.
As part of the second round of the qualifying tournament, Adiev’s team hosted Denmark. It all started for the owners just a nightmare, but ended with a real miracle.
The Danes did not even have time to utter a word!
Disappointing start
The first half of the national team of Kazakhstan just can not bring itself to the asset. The hosts possessed the ball only 37% of the time and struck half as many shots as the opponent. Already in the 21st minute, Kazakhstani footballers made a gross mistake in defense, allowing the Danes striker with the surname Hoylund to run one on one and transfer the goalkeeper.
And just 14 minutes later, the guests were already leading with a comfortable advantage. The hustle in the penalty area of goalkeeper Igor Shatsky ended with a kick from Euro 2020 hero Mikkel Damsgaard. However, the goalkeeper coped with this task, shortening the distance in time and spreading his arms and legs. But finishing off was already fatal: Rasmus Hoylund scored a double. Adiev had a difficult break ahead – it was necessary to convince the players that further resistance was not pointless.

And it succeeded! True, immediately after the break, it was not possible to return to the game. Hope was revived only in the last twenty minutes, when the Kazakh fans were probably already desperate to see goals scored by their team. Partly helped by the referee, who appointed a penalty kick against the Danish national team. Soldier Baktiyor Zainutdinov approached the point. A hit in the top nine – and Kazakhstan is back in the game.
And then the owners flooded! They became especially active in the last minutes of the match. In the 86th minute, midfielder Askhat Tagybergen sent the ball into the far top corner with a crazy shot from 30 meters. Kasper Schmeichel pulled himself to attention, but could not help his team in any way. The stadium literally went crazy and could not believe that what was happening was real.
Perhaps even a draw would be a great result for Adiev’s wards. But this armored train was unstoppable. A minute before the end of the regular time of the match, the hosts organized a chic English goal: a cross from the flank and a sharp header by Abat Aimbetov. The Astana striker was so happy that he took off his shirt and received a yellow card for it. And in stoppage time he allowed himself a violation of the rules – and was removed. However, it is unlikely that he was very upset.
The Kazakh national team had a simply incredible ending, catching the relaxed Danes by surprise. Magomed Adiev has every right to consider himself the creator of this miracle. When a team has such a character, it is a direct merit of the coach. And Adiev’s character is well known to everyone.

– The most unusual and extraordinary was the New Year, which I spent in Israel during my stay as a player in the USSR youth team. An international tournament was organized in this country, in which our team participated. It’s plus twenty outside and we’re celebrating the new year in shorts and T-shirts.
The next day we had to play against the Swedish national team in the final. The Swedes sat next to our table on New Year’s Eve, they saw how we relaxed, and how we relaxed. Believe me, we rested much better and played much better (smiles). As it turned out, the Swedes were very weak at the festive table. We won the final match 2-0.
– As a Ukrainian citizen and a football coach, what do you expect from the new year 2026?
– To be honest, everyone is waiting for one thing; peace. And I’m not the only one who can say that. If there is peace, everything will return to normal. I really want the war to end as soon as possible, for people to be free, for parents not to bury their children. This is the most important thing. And as a coach, I expect changes for the better in our football.
I would like the Ukrainian championship to be full-fledged and finally achieve some kind of stability. And also for the Ukrainian national team to successfully pass the World Cup play-off tests and please the fans as often as possible. I also really want the football players in our club to have a good future, to become real football masters, to gain recognition and to be invited to various national teams.
