Pinyaev should become the main player of the Russian national team, Gladilin believes

Midfielder Sergei Pinyaev needs to continue to work on himself and become the main player of the Russian national team, former Spartak footballer Valery Gladilin told RB Sport.

On Sunday, the Russian team beat the Iraqi team in St. Petersburg with a score of 2:0. Pinyaev scored in the second half and became the youngest goal scorer in the history of the Russian team, breaking the record of Dmitry Sychev.

– The game turned out to be more mobile in the performance of our team. Yes, in the first half there was some nervousness, because the line-up changed – there were a lot of new players. But in the second half of the match, the game improved, our team had an advantage, they could have scored more. Yes, the game of our team cannot be called bright and beautiful, but the players had little time to prepare, and there was also a large rotation – in such conditions it is very difficult to establish a game.

The main thing is that the coaching staff looked at many players. The guys were in a good mood. Iraq is a good team, but weaker than Iran.

– Who would you single out?

– Pinyaev, who scored his first goal for the national team. He scored a great goal, taking over the game, although youngsters are often afraid to do so. Sergey did everything masterfully. Pinyaev needs to continue to work on himself and become the main player of the national team. While we do not have Alexey Miranchuk and Golovin, Pinyaev and the same Zinkovsky have every chance to prove themselves so that Karpin believes in them.

– Did Pinyaev remind you of Arshavin?

No, they are completely different players.

– How would you rate the game of Spartak in these two matches of the national team?

– I think that everyone played satisfactorily. Yes, no one needs to give high marks, but the guys tried and showed themselves. Karpin appreciated them – these are combat units that you can count on, – said Gladilin.

Pinyaev is 18 years old. This season, he has played 21 matches for Samara’s Krylya Sovetov and Moscow’s Lokomotiv, scoring five goals and providing three assists.
