after a good debut with a 3-0 win over Norwaycame the first defeat for her Spain national team in the qualification for Euro 2024. He was in Glasgow before Scotland, 2-0thanks to a brace from the Manchester United midfielder, Scott McTominaywho had already scored two goals in the opening game against Cyprus.

Scotland’s two goals had a similar development. Outpouring of defenders on the left (First Robertson, then Tierney) and center for the scoring arrival of McTominay. In both cases, with lots of cooperation from the Spanish right-backs: First Pedro Porro, later Dani Carvajal.

Scotland was ahead of the score from the 7th minute and Spain never had a clarity to match history. Although it was close to a tie with some headers from Joselu and Rodrishowed very little in terms of relevant football and did not create any dangerous situation from minute 30 onwards.

In its second official presentation, De la Fuente’s team was completely in debt, with a question that has no clear answer: why did the coach decide to make eight changes, around the starting line-up that had just won 3-0? Whatever the answer, it didn’t work in the field.

Minute 51: Goal for Scotland! Huge individual play down the left from Tierney, leaving a very light and slow Carvajal in the way, cross and Scott McTominay’s shot again to beat Kepa. Second consecutive double for the Manchester United midfielder.

Minute 46: Good left foot from Rodri from mid-range. Well contained below by Gunn.

The second half begins with two changes to Spain. Nico Williams for Mikel Oyarzabal and Dani Carvajal for Pedro Perro.

Minute 45+2: End of first half. Scotland take the lead after capitalizing on a defensive error by Porro to get through McTominay and then have a bit of luck with a series of headers from Joselu and Rodri. The visit brought danger through the centers but created very little in terms of relevant play.

Minute 45+1: Dykes failed! Spain had a very poor attitude on the counter-attack and the QPR striker ended up face-to-face with Kepa. His shot was inaccurate. It was 2-0.

Minute 36: Good response from Kepa to a tight McGinn corner which could have turned into Scotland’s second goal. The native suggests a friction match and constant physical shock.

Minute 33: New scolding in Scotland. Dykes for an elbow.

Minute 29: Close the joint. Very good shot from long range, saved with one hand by Gunn. Jeremi did it from that corner, with a shot just outside the door of the area. The draw is ripe.

Minute 28: Again close to Spain from the head. That was Rodry winning in the air from a corner. The ball hit the roof of the goal defended by Goon. La Roja carries danger through centers.

Minute 25: Robertson’s elbow from the ball against Poros. VAR did not intervene. It could have been a send-off for the Liverpool team, but he was shown a yellow card.

Minute 22: Joselu on the post! Another great header from the Spanish striker, which again came close to 1-1. La Roja starts to take over the party.

Minute 19: Good approach from Spain, with an accurate cross from Gaya and a strong header from Joselu. He found Gunn’s hands, in a good position.

Minute 17: Complicated game for Spain at Hampden Park. De La Fuente’s men are pushing for parity, but for now they are less than a very solid Scottish team to begin with.

Minute 7: Scottish goal! Little had happened at the start of the game but the home side quickly went in front with a goal from Scott McTominay, assisted by Andrew Robertson, following a mistake by Pedro Porro. Time for anthems and teams on the field. All set at Hampden Park for the start of the duel between Spain and Scotland. Both are going for another win, having made their debuts on both occasions with 3-0 victories on the opening day.

Calls to remove Russia’s partners sound like desperation – Svishchev

Requests by Ukrainian officials to impose sanctions against Russia’s partners after the renewed admission of Russian athletes to competitions do not find understanding and seem like a gesture of desperation. This opinion was expressed by the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports Dmitry Svishchev.

Former president of the Ukrainian Football Federation Andrei Shevchenko called for sanctions and the removal from participation in sports competitions of representatives of countries supporting Russia.

“These are already some gestures of desperation. Our athletes are increasingly allowed to participate in international competitions; there are no conflicts or boycotts. Athletes even communicate with each other, this does not bring negative consequences. The appeals of Ukrainians to remove our athletes from every part of the world no longer find understanding among appropriate sports officials. Therefore, such appeals already seem desperate,” Svishchev said.

Shevchenko made statements about the Ukraine-Sweden match in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers

UAF President Andrey Shevchenko He talked about the match against the Swedish national team in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

“When we were drawn against Sweden we probably faced our toughest opponent. I have great respect for Swedish football, you have always had good national teams and great players.”

“It’s always difficult to face Scandinavian teams, even though you don’t qualify for the World Cup, because you have so much quality, character and identity. This is similar to us to some extent. I don’t think there are favourites. In the end it all depends on the details, the injury situation and the preparations,” said Shevchenko.

In case of victory, Ukraine will play with the winner of the Poland-Albania doubles for a ticket to the World Cup. Ukraine will play the final match at home on March 31, again conditionally.

In addition to the 12 teams that finished second in their groups, the 4 winners of the Nations League quartet will also participate in the play-offs. All 16 participants are divided into 4 paths. Each route will include a semi-final and a final. The semi-finals will be held on March 26, and the finals will be held on March 31, 2026.
