Malcom did not rule out that he would play for the Russian national team

Forward “Zenith” Malcolm said that he does not exclude the possibility of one day playing in the national team of Russia.

At the end of February, the Brazilian football players of Zenit Malcolm and Claudinho received Russian citizenship by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Earlier, the Russian Football Union (RFU) told Match TV that there is a theoretical possibility that the Brazilians will be able to play for the Russian national team.

– Complex issue. Like any Brazilian, since childhood I dreamed of playing for the national team of my country. And after becoming a professional football player, I began to think about it even more. But I understand perfectly well that having received a passport, you have a chance to one day put on a T-shirt of the Russian national team.

If it suddenly turns out that I am not useful to Brazil, then with great pleasure I will play for Russia. Unless, of course, I will then be in demand and my services will be needed. Such things depend on many factors, but I do not exclude anything for myself. It will be necessary to discuss everything with the family, think it over properly, ”Rossiyskaya Gazeta quotes the footballer as saying.

Malcolm, 26, has made 20 appearances this season, scoring 16 goals and providing seven assists.
