The Mexican Football Federation launched an investigation into the incident in the major league match between the clubs “Leon” and “America” (2: 2), during which the referee hit the player.
Match referee Fernando Hernandez hit Léon midfielder Lucas Romero with a knee in the groin when the player demanded a revision of the episode with the opponent’s goal at VAR.
After the match, the victim himself noted that he did not intend to insist on punishing the referee.
Judges are people too, they can make mistakes, and these mistakes ultimately lead to what happened. I’m not asking for any form of punishment, he told me it was unintentional, TUDN said.
The refereeing commission of the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) said that the results of the investigation will be made public upon its completion.
