A gross mistake made life difficult for Rostov.
“Krasnodar” and “Rostov” gave out a peppy, but ineffective match at the first stage of the semi-final of the FONBET Path of Regions of the Cup of Russia. The score could have remained zero, but goalkeeper Sergei Pesyakov decided otherwise. And he made Rostov’s life as difficult as possible!
How can you play like that?
Not looking
The episode in which the Rostov goalkeeper “distinguished himself” took place in the 23rd minute. Pesyakov, taking the ball out of the semicircle, gave it to Eduard Spertsyan, who decided the episode with two touches. The first worked on his move, and the second rolled between the legs of the goalkeeper.

That’s how “Rostov” out of the blue turned out to be in the role of catching up. Although in defense of Pesyakov, we can say that he was under pressure from Joao Batchi and did not see his players. But why so clumsily take out the ball almost without looking?
In past matches, he made the fans clutch at their hearts, playing a lot, but not always confidently with their feet. And now Karpin’s tactics with a goalkeeper similar to Neuer failed miserably.
Not counted, not assigned
In general, the match turned out to be interesting both in terms of movement and intrigue. In the first half, in addition to the goalkeeper’s blunder, there was another episode with an unaccounted goal. In the 21st minute, Yegor Golenkov scored after a pass from Kirill Shchetinin, but referee Vladislav Bezborodov considered that the ball had gone out of bounds a little earlier and blew the whistle. Therefore, Rostov did not come forward.
A little earlier, the referee could twice put a penalty on the gates of Krasnodar. But both times Bezborodov decided that the hosts’ fouls did not amount to a severe punishment.
Advantage of “Rostov”
In the second half, Karpin’s team seized the initiative and achieved their goal in the 54th minute. The attack developed on the right flank, then the ball went to Roman Tugarev, and he stylishly rolled Matvey Safonov into the corner of the goal. It is worth noting the game of Khoren Bayramyan, who beautifully conceded the ball to a teammate.
Then Bayramyan himself forced Safonov to make a super save, breaking through from 30 meters exactly under the crossbar. But Matvey pulled out the ball in a beautiful jump! And in general, his game allowed Krasnodar to stay afloat.
Sometimes the “bulls” snarled quite meaningful attacks. Could score Cordoba, who ran with the ball almost from his own half of the field, but hit too hard. In response, Silyanov hit his head from an advantageous position – past.
There was another episode in which Viktor Melekhin showed a choke hold on Spertsyan. Krasnodar did not like that his neck was captured in a noose, and he tried to deal with the offender on the spot. Bezborodov had to intervene, who showed the players on a yellow card. Only his intervention prevented a larger fight from taking place.
In general, Rostov completely outplayed Krasnodar: 15-5 in shots and 7-2 in shots on target. The hosts were marked with only five yellow cards. But the Rostov attacks did not lead to anything – the main time ended with a score of 1:1.
Prokhin’s fatal miss
Spertsyan opened the scoring in the series with a powerful blow to the left corner, and Bayramyan shot in response in exactly the same way. Then Alexey Ionov and Nikolay Komlichenko scored there, and only John Cordoba changed the corner, hitting the right. Danila Prokhin charged higher, followed by Junior Alonso mockingly rolled under the right post. Roman Tugarev gave Rostov hope by scoring from the woodwork, but Nikita Krivtsov buried her – 5:3 in favor of Krasnodar.
The Bulls win a penalty shoot-out for the first time in their history. Rostov, having spent a wonderful second half, is forced to admit defeat. And all because of a ridiculous blunder!
