CSKA veteran Vladimir Ponomarev admitted that he expected the army team to win in the match against Ural in the 23rd round of the WORLD RPL, and believes that the Muscovites will finish second this season.
On Saturday, CSKA defeated Ural 2-1 in the away match of the 23rd round of the MIR RPL. The team is in fourth place in the standings (44 points), losing one point to Rostov and Spartak.
– In principle, I expected the victory of CSKA. But I thought that the score would be 1:0, but it turned out 2:1. Well, that’s okay. Still, we played on a foreign field, plus Ural is an uncomfortable opponent. CSKA is on the move now, it’s hard to play with us. The defense is in order, Akinfeev too. Diveev worries me a little, he sometimes loses martial arts. This is due to the fact that he does not have a starting speed. Maybe he just hasn’t gotten in shape yet.
Our midfield is also good. Oblyakov now feels great. He has already matured. Zainutdinov worries me. And now he has earned a penalty in his own net. The fact is that he panics in his penalty area. Zabolotny is dangerous in the penalty area, successfully scored a goal. He is a brave player who is not afraid of martial arts. Chalov, on the contrary, is more intelligent. He plays on clean balls, but does not like wrestling. But he plays smarter. They complement each other, so they have a good tandem now. I think we will take second place this season,” Ponomarev told Euro‑Futbol.Ru.
