Rich history of a great club.
Birth
Dynamo, unlike many Russian clubs, has an official birthday without any stretches or fabrications. On April 18, 1923, a sports club was created and a football team was formed within it. It is not worth attracting the Sokolniki Football Club, which was founded much earlier. Even if its participants played for Dynamo, and this is a fact. Blue and white were the colors chosen 99 years ago. A coat of arms with the letter “D” inside a diamond appeared shortly thereafter. The first match in history was played against the Krasnaya Presnya club, which everyone now knows as Spartak Moscow. We lost 2:3, but this is how the great story of the famous confrontation began, which will be 100 years old on June 17th. So far the old derby is interesting and can put on a show.
Lev Ivanovich
There are few such famous players in the world who have played their entire career for one club. Maldini, Totti, Giggs, Walter, Jack Charlton and Yashin are among the true legends. Lev Ivanovich for many remains the main goalkeeper in the history of football. Dynamo have had a trouble-free streak with goalkeeping for more than three decades. Khomich was replaced by Yashin, and then Pilgui played. But colleagues haven’t argued that Black Panther or Black Spider is the greatest of them all. The only goalkeeper with the Ballon d’Or. European champion and vice-champion in four years. Six times champion, three times cup winner. World championship winner. He succeeded everywhere in football, but he didn’t have time to live for himself. Yashin left too soon.
Trophies
In Europe they were twice within reach of the Cup Winners’ Cup final, once again they played the decisive match. Houses first won the championship in 1936. The only Russian club that has spent all 54 seasons in the Allied leagues. Therefore, it is so offensive that they flew away for a year from RPL, snapping their streak in the major leagues. But in the 1950s, Dinamo thundered, they took four league titles. The 1940s were also full of successes, even if that decade was marked by a war that cost millions of lives and caused football careers to bounce back. There were no leaders at Dynamo who could carry on the winning traditions of the most successful two decades. But from time to time they won the Soviet Cup and even managed to win the championship in 1976. The last championship of “Dinamo” in the major leagues. The two stars on the modern crest are a reference to 11 championships, for every five you get one star.
Mentors
Beskov, Yakushin and Arkadiev all left their mark on Dynamo’s history, even though Boris Andreevich ended up in a friendly CSKA (then called CDSA). Yakushin has a record for the number of victories – 207, and Beskov has 116 successful matches. While Konstantin Ivanovich didn’t add a club win as manager to two championships as a Dynamo striker, he did win cups, including the 1995 Russian cup against Rotor. And Mikhail Iosifovich Yakushin won six championship titles. At Spartak, for comparison, no mentor has won more than two titles in the Soviet era, including Beskov. In the twenty-first century, Dynamo did not have figures of this magnitude. Semin didn’t stay long, he ended up at the club in the strangest period in the history of the Portuguese scam. Gazzaev came as a coach twice, but major successes awaited him CSKA. The lack of a suitable mentor is one of the reasons for the lack of new trophies. They did not find their Berdyev for Dynamo.
The final
Difficult finals are part of Dynamo history. If now the fans took to the field before the final whistle, thwarting the comeback attempt, as happened in the decisive cup match between Rangers and Dynamo, then in Uefa could also award a technical victory to the Moscow club. And in 1972, they tried to knock out a replay at Camp Nou, but the football authorities changed their mind and left the result of the match in effect, although the fans decisively thwarted the Muscovites’ offensive impulse with a score of 2: 3. The Scots were expelled from European competition for the season as a punishment, but still had a trophy. Dynamo are unlucky at the decisive moment. Local finals were also lost more often than won. For 7 wins, there are 9 losses. And twice succumbed in the new century. There were also two bankruptcies in the 1990s. You can’t call them lucky, but many have no endings, not to mention trophies.
legends
While Yashin stands out for obvious reasons, as a global figure, and not just the main legend in Dynamo history, it’s not fair to ignore the rest. Alexander Novikov was ahead of Makhovikov and Yashin in the number of matches, he played 395 matches. Shunin, if he spends a couple more seasons at the base, can break the record of his colleagues. But the peak in scoring is unlikely to be conquered by the Dynamo forwards in the near future. Sergei Solovyov scored 152 goals. It’s hard to imagine that a young striker like Tyukavin would stay at the club for a decade to beat this result. Beskov is second with 116 goals and Gazzaev is third (87 goals).
There are enough legends. From Kobelev, who played at the start of the first team, to Yakushin, Maslov, Dolmatov, Tsarev, Ilyin and Chislenko. It wasn’t until the 1980s that the national team began to forget about Dinamo players, although there were only four years in which they weren’t called up to the allied squad all the time. The Russian national team also lacked Moscow players. Including Kolodin and Semshov, who played at Euro 2008.
Fan
Yuriy was born in 1921 and Evgeny in 1926. The most famous fans in the history of Dynamo. Nikulin fought, Leonov did not have enough years for this. Both were more than comical, even if this is hard bread. Yuri Vladimirovich’s father was a fan of Spartak and his son chose their famous enemies. Leonov was impressed by the first championship, he played football himself and dreamed of becoming a player. But it turned out that acting talent is more than sports. Nikulin lived a little longer, so he won Dynamo’s last trophy – the cup victory in 1995, but Leonov left a year earlier. Clubs that had fans born more than a hundred years ago, like Nikulin, in all countries occupy a special place in history. But now someone is on the periphery and Dynamo is trying to pull itself higher. Schwartz reached the Cup final, where the former Krasnaya Presnya prevented the victory celebration, and finished third in RPL.
Now things are not going so well. But the team has potential, as does sponsor support. However, they are not, and neither are the protagonists, because they come and go. Without fans there are no big clubs, today is also their holiday. Football is like life, not everything works out, but the memories remain. There are people alive who saw the championship of the fifties and the legends of the past with their own eyes. Furthermore, the elders have such a memory that they can recreate the details of those fights, even though they are inexperienced in the present.
New viewers have also grown up, for whom Nikulin and Leonov are unfamiliar names. This is normal, life keeps floating and the waves bring happy moments ashore. Dynamo is lucky. They had a great time, even the famous tour of the UK was significant for the history of Russian football. Great footballers and one of the greatest masters of the whole planet played for the Moscow club. Dynamo has survived many cataclysms over a hundred years and is looking forward to new successes.
