‘Very close to winning a football title’ – Robben on personal best in Rotterdam Marathon
Former Bayern Munich football player Arjen Robben, commenting on the results of the Rotterdam Marathon, compared his personal record with winning a title in football.
Robben ran 42 km 195 m in 2 hours 58 minutes 33 seconds. Last year, the world championship medalist showed a time of 3 hours 13 minutes 40 seconds.
I was very tired, but I did it. For a sprinter like me, this distance is very long. But I love sports and challenges. Some people call you crazy. I am no longer a top athlete, but I can say that it is a top sport when you can run a marathon in less than 3 hours. This is very close to winning a great football title. This is crazy, I can tick the box, – quotes the words of 39-year-old Robben AD with reference to NOS.
Robben announced his retirement in July last year. He already retired from football in 2019, but resumed his career in the summer of 2020, signing a contract with Groningen. At the club level, he played for Chelsea, Real Madrid, Bayern, as part of the national team he won the silver and bronze medals of the World Cup.
