Real Madrid have released a video detailing Barcelona’s ties to dictator Francisco Franco.
The Club de Madrid has released a four-minute video outlining Catalans’ ties to former Spanish dictator Francisco Franco. The video reveals Barcelona’s ties to Franco through archival material.
Real Madrid claim that Barcelona gave Franco three awards, made him an honorary member of the club and had more success on the pitch during his regime.
Francisco Franco was a Spanish military general who ruled Spain from 1939 to 1975. This period in Spanish history is known as Francoist Spain or as the Francoist dictatorship.
Earlier, Barcelona President Joan Laporta hinted that the referees are historically sympathetic to Real Madrid.
