Former football player of the Russian national team Andrey Arshavin said that he was not upset because of the refusal of the Russian Football Union (RFU) to participate in the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) tournament.
On Tuesday, RFU Secretary General Maxim Mitrofanov said that the Russian team would not take part in the CAFA tournament due to “a large load on the players.”
– What decision was made, such was made. Personally, I was not upset that our team would not take part in such a fashionable tournament, ”Match TV quotes Arshavin as saying.
Russian teams and clubs have been suspended from tournaments under the auspices of the Union of European Associations (UEFA) and the International Football Federation (FIFA) due to the situation in Ukraine.
