“It is very important to understand what form Mario Fernandez is in” – Afanasiev

Former CSKA defender Andrei Afanasiev, commenting on rumors about the possible return of defender Mario Fernandez to the Moscow club, noted that it is important to understand what form the player is in.

In May 2022, Fernandez put his career on hold and returned to Brazil. Internacional, for which he has been on loan since January of this year, announced on Friday the termination of the contract with the player. The player asked to terminate the agreement for personal reasons.

– It is very important to understand what form Mario is in and what condition he will be in when he returns to the club. If he shows the same football as we saw before his departure from CSKA, then this will definitely be a strengthening.

Fernandez knows the players of the army team, and they know him, in such conditions his re-adaptation can go very quickly, Afanasiev told RB Sport.

The current agreement of 32-year-old Fernandez with CSKA is calculated until the end of June 2024.
