Russian coach Igor Cherevchenko said that he is still getting used to the Tajik club Istiklol.
In January, Cherevchenko was appointed head coach of Istiklol. The contract between the parties is for one year.
– So far, I have not adapted to the new championship for me. We are still learning. There is a specificity here. The cardinal difference between Russian football and Tajik football is that there are frequent games here. Through four to the fifth, through the third day to the fourth. There is no weekly cycle. But there’s nothing wrong with that – it’s normal.
In my opinion, the teams in the championship are aligned. Due to the fact that many teams defend against Istiklol, this makes us play first. This is not exactly a problem, rather, a working moment. We’ll fix it all. Everything just takes time.
Return to Russia? I have a contract until December. It will be visible there. Why guess? I don’t look that far. I have an agreement with management here. I don’t think about returning to Russian football yet,” Cherevchenko told Sport24.
Cherevchenko previously headed only clubs from Russia, he was the head coach at Lokomotiv, Khimki and Tula Arsenal
