Torpedo head coach Josep Clotet said that the club’s management underestimated the level of the WORLD of the RPL, preparing a team that is not ready for the current level of the championship.
On Saturday, Akhmat defeated Torpedo in the away match of the 26th round of the Russian Championship with a score of 5:1.
– Obviously, the result is very bad, and first of all it is my fault. You need to approach this with a cool head. The bet was to dominate the box, but we didn’t manage to do it. Individual mistakes in defense led to goals. Despite the result, there are some positive moments, in a number of moments we played well between the lines, we had the ball. Akhmat is a good team, and today they showed it. They play very well away from home, losing only four matches this season. I think the decisive factor was the successful play of the Akhmat players in both penalty areas.
– Why did Torpedo miss the positive that was in the first matches under your leadership?
– I have never had such a bad game, I agree. The team lost both tactically and technically. Sometimes the result is difficult to “catch” some positive. But if you ask me which game was better – today with Akhmat or with Fakel, I will answer you: in terms of content, today’s game was better. The club underestimated the RPL before the season. And he prepared a team that was not ready for the level of the Premier League.
We need to develop, create a strong team, regardless of which league Torpedo will play in. That’s why I came here: the idea of the club is development. When I arrived, almost everything was lost. And organizationally, I saw a lot of bad points that needed to be corrected. Nevertheless, no excuses: our headquarters is doing its best to rectify the situation. Torpedo has 13 points and the last 16th place in the table. The Moscow club will not be able to rise above the play-off zone, even if they win the remaining four matches of the championship. In this case, “Torpedo” will score 25 points, the same number of points in the asset of the “Wings of the Soviets”, but Samarans have an advantage in personal meetings.
