Real Madrid faces a technical defeat in the match Examples with Getafe – media
Getafe filed a protest with the competition committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) against the result of the match of the 34th round of Examples against Real Madrid, reports As.
The meeting took place on May 13 in Madrid and ended in favor of the home team with a score of 1:0. Asensio scored a goal in the 70th minute.
Getafe believes that in the 84th minute of the match, during the replacement of Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga with Alvaro Odriozola, there was a violation of the rules. Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti originally planned to replace Marco Asensio. The players greeted each other at the touchline, Odriozola ran onto the field, and Asensio stopped at the touchline. At this point, Camavinga requested a substitution and in the end it was he who ended up on the bench, while Asensio remained on the field.
According to the rules, substitutions take effect when the substitute enters the field of play. From that point on, the player who left the field becomes a substitute and the substitute becomes a player so that play can resume. However, since Asensio did not leave the field, the refereeing team did not realize that a substitution had been made. Getafe studied the video of the episode and decided to file a complaint.
If the RFEF committee decides that Real made a mistake, Getafe could be awarded a 3-0 win. Also, such a violation entails a fine in the amount of 6 thousand to 9 thousand euros.
In the standings of the championship of Spain, Real Madrid (71 points) is in second place, Getafe (34) is 18th.
