Russian coach Valery Nepomniachtchi admitted that he would like to see Aris striker Alexander Kokorin in the Russian championship.
Earlier, Kokorin received the Cyprus Football Association Award and was recognized as the best player in the national championship this season.
– I don’t know if he will return to Fiorentina, but I would like him to play in the Russian championship. It’s a shame for me when our players play abroad and we don’t see them in our league.
I am not against a European career, but playing in Cyprus is one thing, and playing at Zenit or Dynamo is quite another. Kokorin used to be a football player of the highest level, it just didn’t work out.
Anything can happen in the biography of a person and a football player. So he got in trouble, and we lost him for our football,” Nepomniachtchi told Metaratings.ru.
This season, the 32-year-old striker has made 28 appearances for Aris in all competitions, scoring 13 goals and providing 6 assists.
Kokorin plays for Aris on loan, the sports rights to the player belong to the Italian Fiorentina.
