RFEF cancels red card for Vinicius and partially closes Valencia stadium for 5 matches
The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has decided to cancel the removal of Real Madrid striker Vinicius Junior in the match of the 35th round of La Liga with Valencia (0:1).
At the end of the match, Vinicius received a direct red card for hitting Valencia striker Hugo Duro in the face. Prior to this episode, Duro squeezed Vinicius’s throat from behind. Chief referee Ricardo Bengoechea, having studied the video replay, showed the Brazilian a red card, while Duro remained on the field.
Thus, Vinicius will be able to take part in the next match of Madrid, which will be held on Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium against Rayo Vallecano.
Before his removal, the Brazilian was subjected to racist abuse from local fans. After investigating this case, RFEF closed the Mestalla stand, which is located outside the south gate, for five matches. Valencia were also fined 45,000 euros. Valencia have already declared their disagreement with this decision and intend to appeal against it.
