Banned for 8 months, Brentford striker Ivan Toney bet 15 times between 2017 and 2021 that he would score. Another 13 times he made bets on the defeat of his team when he was not playing, according to the motivational part of the decision to suspend the player, published on the website of the Football Association of England (FA).
The FA also notes that the striker used other people’s accounts to place bets, despite initially denying the allegations. In addition, he admitted to lying while talking to FA officials about the gambling allegations.
Tony has been suspended from any football activity for eight months. The 27-year-old player was also fined £50,000. At the same time, in case of a repeated violation, the player will be suspended from football for life.
Tony has been with Brentford since 2020 and has made 124 appearances for the team, scoring 68 goals and providing 21 assists.
