The British made a beautiful publication in honor of the Russian football star, but they were afraid of the angry comments of the fans.
Today, the former player of Arsenal, Zenit and the Russian national team Andrei Arshavin turned 42 years old. There were a huge number of congratulations, including in the West from foreigners. The London club itself could not pass by the event, but what happened next defies any logic.
Congratulated beautifully
Arshavin spent almost five years at Arsenal, during which he became one of the favorite players for the fans. He did not always manage to show stable football, but if he succeeded, the rivals were simply destroyed. He scored almost 40 goals for the Londoners, some of them became masterpieces. Andrei has scored against Barcelona, Manchester United and other top European clubs while remaining true to his style of play.
Despite the fact that the Russian was not so bright by the end of the London segment of his career, he still left good memories of himself. The legendary Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger has always spoken warmly about working with Arshavin, and it’s worth a lot. Perhaps, in the latest Russian football history, Andrei was the most notable player in the country. Of course, the main milestones of his career were the 2008 European Championship and the UEFA Cup of the same season.
But Arsenal fans will always remember Arshavin’s poker game against Liverpool at Anfield. It was grandeur, coupled with some kind of magic. More than 10 years have passed since that moment, but Andrey’s run for the fourth goal and his celebration with the fans’ stand of the London club are still in the eyes. Actually, Arsenal posted the video of his goals at Anfield on their social networks, congratulating the Russian on his 42nd birthday. And wished Andrew a great day.
What follows is a complete nightmare.
However, such a publication caused anger among the fans, most of whom were Ukrainians. A real attack was made on Arsenal’s social networks, which resulted in the removal of a post with congratulations. With this action, Arsenal showed their worst side, because the publication hung for about eight hours. I mean, everyone has already seen it. Someone once again enjoyed Andrey’s goals, because poker against Liverpool is a significant page not only in the career of a Russian football player, but also in the history of the entire London club.
Instead of leaving everything as it is and cleaning up the comments, Arsenal did not come up with anything better than deleting the post. As the official account of the Russian national football team in social networks correctly noted, “you can delete a post, but you can’t erase history.” Arsenal fans represent different countries around the world, many of them certainly did not understand and will not understand what happened. The British set themselves up, but no one will forget Arshavin’s poker anyway.
