The PSG press service has confirmed that striker Lionel Messi will leave the club in the summer as a free agent at the end of his contract.
Messi’s contract with PSG runs until the end of June 2023. The striker has made 40 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring 21 goals and providing 20 assists. The 35-year-old Argentine moved to the Parisian club in 2021 and became a two-time French champion.
Thanks to the club, the city of Paris and its people for these two years. I wish them all the best in the future,” the press service of the Parisians quoted Messi as saying.
Earlier, Barcelona head coach Xavi gave an interview in which he stated that Messi will make a decision about his future next week. The media reported that the Saudi club Al-Hilal wants to sign a contract with the 35-year-old Argentinean, offering him a record salary in the history of football – 1.2 billion for two years.
