River Plate declare day of mourning after fan’s death during Argentine league match

The press service of River Plate confirmed the death of a fan during the match of the 19th round of the Argentinean championship with the Defensa e Justicia club.

The meeting was held in Buenos Aires at the Monumental Stadium. One of the spectators fell from the upper tier of the arena and died. The meeting was interrupted, the match was not completed. The medical service, as well as the police and various law enforcement agencies, immediately arrived at the scene. The club notes that during the fall of the fan no third parties were noticed, it was also checked that no traces of violence were found.

An investigation is underway on the spot. At the direction of the prosecutor’s office, the rostrum was closed for 24 hours to collect evidence.

River Plate announced that the club has declared a day of mourning.
