South Korea head coach Juergen Klinsmann has included midfielder Song Joong-ho in his squad for upcoming friendly matches despite the player being arrested in China.
The football player was detained in China in May on suspicion of taking bribes from non-governmental organizations.
He’s on this list in case something changes. We follow him, he receives our support. We don’t know his mental state, we don’t know what his physical condition is, but I think Son deserves all the support from our side,” Klinsmann is quoted as saying by the South China Morning Post.
The 31-year-old midfielder has been playing for Shandong Taishan since 2021. At last year’s World Cup in Qatar, he played three matches for the South Korean national team.
