The first name that comes to mind when we think of soccer in the United States is none other than Pele. The Brazilian was the first legend to promote the sport to the legendary and unforgettable New York Cosmos. The forward began his North American experience on June 11, 1975 until October 1, 1977, the day he was withdrawn in a friendly against home team Santos of Brazil. In 1977 he earned the title with the cast of New York.
In those years, Cosmos also incorporated a second glory: the German one Franz Beckenbauer. The defender played from 1977 to 1980 and returned in 1983 to close his career. In total, he wore the jersey of the Big Apple team more than 100 times.
