Former CSKA player Jesus: “Zhirkov is incredibly brave, very good!”
Former CSKA Moscow footballer Ricardo Jesus told Sport24 that he remembers the ex-army midfielder Yuri Zhirkov as a brave football player.
Jesus played for CSKA and Spartak Nalchik in 2008-2013. Zhirkov played for CSKA from 2004 to 2009.
Do you remember Zhirkov?
– Is this the guy who played at Chelsea later? Very good! Incredibly brave, he ran to beat the opponent even in a situation where everyone thought that he would give a pass, ”Jesus said.
In February, 39-year-old Zhirkov retired from football. Zhirkov is a five-time champion of Russia, a six-time winner of the Cup and Super Cup of the country, winner of the championship, Cup and Super Cup of England, winner of the UEFA Cup. With the national team, he became the bronze medalist of Euro 2008. The footballer played for CSKA, Khimki, Dynamo Moscow, Anzhi Makhachkala, Zenit St. Petersburg and Chelsea London.
