Lakhiyalov: “Malcolm is the best player of the season, Promes played unevenly”

Forward and president of the Makhachkala “Legion” Shamil Lakhiyalov believes that the striker of “Zenith” Malcolm became unconditionally the best player in the Russian Football Championship and deservedly received the award.

Malcolm at the annual RPL award was recognized as the best player according to the results of the last season in the Russian championship. Last season, the Brazilian became the top scorer of the WORLD RPL, scoring 23 goals. He was also recognized as the best striker of the season. Spartak forward Quincy Promes with 20 goals became the second in the list of scorers, Fedor Chalov from CSKA (19 goals) – the third.

“I think Malcolm is the undisputed best player of the season, he fully deserves this award. He not only became the champion and top scorer in Zenit, but also was a leader on the field, scored many important goals, gave a large number of assists. Definitely one of the best seasons in Malcolm’s career. At the same time, it is depressing that throughout the season there was no alternative to him. Promes occasionally tried to compete, but if you take the championship as a whole, he spent it rather unevenly. Who can be singled out among the Russian players? I think Chalova with his rate of fire. Well, everything, in principle, there is no one else to note. It’s a pity, of course, that in the Russian championship there are no new names that would be heard by specialists and fans.
