The President of the Russian Football Union (RFU), Alexander Dyukov, said on Match TV that the current format of the Russian Cup has the right to exist, but the tournament will undergo minor changes next season.
CSKA on Sunday at Luzhniki defeated Krasnodar in a penalty shootout in the FONBET Russian Cup Superfinal. The main time of the meeting in Moscow at the Luzhniki Stadium ended with the score 1:1. In the penalty shootout, the army team turned out to be more accurate – 6:5. The match was attended by 53,425 fans.
— It was a spectacular match, we saw great football. The intrigue did not leave us until the last minutes, the final was a success. The path is not easy. The number of matches has increased, but many interesting meetings have been played along the way. All clubs confirm that this format has the right to exist.
Of course, something can be improved, more fine-tuning is needed. We will sum up the results, after some time we will make a decision and announce a new format.
There were restrictions on the number of tickets that we could sell, this is 55,000. These tickets were sold three days ago. If they were allowed to sell more tickets, then I’m sure there would be full Luzhniki.
Luzhniki is our main arena. It is important that big matches are held here, on the other hand, we have built many new arenas for the 2018 World Cup. Many regions would like to host matches such as the Russian Cup final, Dyukov told Match TV.
