Masalitin believes that it’s time for Dzagoev to “hang up his boots”

Former CSKA footballer Valery Masalitin believes that ex-army midfielder Alan Dzagoev will no longer be able to cope with his injury.

On Tuesday, a source told Match TV that Dzagoev is in free agent status after his contract with Rubin Kazan expired. For CSKA, he played from 2008 to 2022, becoming a three-time champion of Russia as part of the army team. Last season, the 32-year-old played 20 matches for Rubin in the MELBET First League, scored three goals and made two assists. At the end of the season, the Kazan club entered the WORLD Russian Premier League.

– It is clear that in CSKA he had constant problems because of this, somewhere something was enough for him for a maximum of half an hour, and then these injuries began to crawl out against the background of fatigue. Therefore, they did not continue contact with him. I came to Rubin, it’s the same there. So, it’s not about the teams, it’s about the player himself.

Only he decides [вопрос с продолжением карьеры] He can, he can’t. Does he feel empowered? If his injuries got there, then it makes sense to think that maybe it’s enough for the body to torment with these injuries? Any injury is a small tragedy. You are being treated again, you are not on the team again, you are not training again. This also has to be fought. So the question is – can he still endure it or not? Or really hang up the boots on a nail and do other work, – said Masalitin in a conversation with Gazeta.Ru.

Bulykin named the position that Spartak needs to strengthen

Former Russian national football player Dmitry Bulykin expressed his opinion on how Spartak could strengthen during the winter window.

What kind of player does Spartak need in the winter transfer window? First of all, another goalscoring striker. They are already in a good position and can fight for the championship, but due to the atmosphere in the team there were disagreements.

Now we need a good coach who unites them with a single goal and task. If I were in Spartak, I would find another goalscoring striker in the winter and fight for the championship.

Amorim explains Casemiro’s surprise substitution against Newcastle

Mentor Manchester United Reuben Amorim he said he replaced the midfielder Casemiro during the 1–0 win over Newcastle United because he felt the Brazilian would “struggle” with the intensity of the second half.

Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte formed United’s midfield duo in the absence of Bruno Fernandes, who missed the match with a hamstring injury, but Amorim replaced the Brazilian with Leni Yoro in the 61st minute.

After seeing his number on the substitution board, Casemiro pointed to himself and was disappointed with Amorim’s decision to replace him so early in the match.

Asked to explain Casemiro’s substitution, Amorim replied: “At that moment I didn’t want to shoot [Матеуса] Cunho because he is the only one who allows us to be creative and I put him in position number 10. Jack [Флетчер] it was fresh and could continue, Manu [Угарте] he was cooler than Casemiro. In the end we decided to replace him because they were making a lot of quick passes and I felt that at that point he would have difficulty.”
