A well-known domestic footballer in the past, and now coach Yevgeny Bushmanov believes that the UEFA Nations League has become a good alternative to friendly matches of national teams.
– Of course, the League of Nations is treated differently than the World or European Championships, because there are separate tournaments where all the best teams gather. The League of Nations is organized after all as a substitute for friendly matches. On the one hand, this is an official tournament, on the other hand, the friendly status is probably still a little bit present. Therefore, not all the best and strongest reach the very end, the final. But it is always more pleasant to play official matches than friendly ones. In this regard, the tournament makes sense. It was a good idea of UEFA,” Bushmanov told Gazeta.Ru.
Spain had previously beaten Italy in the Nations League semi-final 2-1. In the match for the title, the Spaniards will play with the Croatian national team, which outplayed the Netherlands in the semi-finals.
The final and match for third place will take place on 18 June in Rotterdam and Enschede respectively.
